Restoration Process

Billing & Payment

All restoration work will be controlled on a “time / material” basis. An advance deposit is required to retain our services for any project. All payments must be made in US funds by Check, Certified Funds, Wire Transfer, PayPal or Cash. Checks must be made payable to Bowtie South Inc. and will require a bank verification of funds before any work will begin.

Once the total amount of the deposit is depleted, further advance/retainers are required until the project is complete.
Billing is done on a monthly basis for all parts, labor and services rendered.

Each month you will receive an itemized invoice listing all fees and cost incurred until the project is completed. Upon request, photographs will be provided to reflect the progress and problem areas of the car, and its components.

Invoices received MUST be paid within 30 days of the billing date in order to avoid a work stoppage until balance is cleared. Daily storage fees will apply when a work stoppage is mandated.

Florida sales tax must be collected for all parts that are invoiced during the restoration unless the customer is the valid holder of a state resale license. A copy of the current license must be furnished at the beginning of the job for sales tax to be withheld.

Estimate of Restoration

It is impossible to estimate the exact cost of a restoration at the beginning of a job. We base our estimates on the ideas that you give us about where you want to take your car and the suggestions of our chief builder. Because there are many unknown and unforeseen repairs on any restoration project; (for example hidden rust beneath another metal structure). A general figure, a high and low, can be given based on previous jobs that were similar and completed by BOWTIE SOUTH INC. The true cost is only revealed during the rebuilding process. It is for this reason that all of our restorations are done on a time/ materials basis. If a written estimated is required expect them to be high enough to cover any possibilities. Restorations are performed as economical as possible without compromising the finished quality craftsmanship that is expected to meet the standards that we adhere to at BOWTIE SOUTH INC.

Each project will hold its share of unique repair challenges, although, a somewhat accurate estimate could be made if the vehicle was first fully disassembled; stripped of all body parts, chrome, glass, suspension, interior, paints and undercoating, etc., every piece inspected, and documented individually, for condition and originality; in addition, after the removal of all paint coatings, old collision damage, body dents, and body rust would need to be evaluated. Obviously this disassembly and analysis alone is an expensive venture- especially if the customer decides not to go forward with the project. For this reason, initial cost estimates are simply a best guess proposition. The notion of an “inexpensive restoration” is just one of the many myths held by people not fully understanding the true meaning and scope of the word. Auto Restoration is not for everyone. The vehicle owner must make a substantial financial commitment before deciding to restore.

Beginning The Restoration Process

When a restoration candidate arrives at BOWTIE SOUTH INC. A team is put together which will be responsible for the project from beginning to end. We evaluate the car for signs of unusual wear and tear, serious or hidden damage, non – originality, etc. While this process takes place, the trained staff at BOWTIE SOUTH INC begins to research and determine what items are original to your car, what replacement parts and what materials are readily available for your restoration process to begin.
